Australian Council of Social Services CEO Dr Cassandra Goldie says it’s clear the federal authorities is but to make a choice on the way forward for JobSeeker amid calls for a permanent increase to the payment.
It comes because the boosted payment, which was put in place as a results of the coronavirus pandemic are set to finish in two months.
“Obviously our view, and those across from all the experts in this area have said it needs to be permanently increased at an adequate rate,” Dr Goldie advised Sky News.
“We have persistently stated it wants to be at the very least one other $25 a day.
“From the prime minister yesterday, it was clear that they are yet to make a decision about the future of JobSeeker.”
