Sometimes the greatest selections in life aren’t about selecting between possibility and a foul possibility—they’re about selecting between what’s protected and what’s proper.
Years in the past, I requested my mom for profession recommendation whereas deciding whether or not to stay a U.S. Navy officer or resign my fee to attend regulation faculty. I anticipated her to inform me what to do.
She didn’t.
Instead, she gave me one sentence that formed each main skilled choice I’ve made since:
“Make sure it’s the right decision—not the safe one.”
Years later, I noticed she wasn’t simply speaking about careers. She was educating me to take a danger on myself.
